My Secret Life as a Ping-Pong Wizard

Zipzer, Hank. My Secret Life as a Ping-Pong Wizard. NY: The Penguin Group, 2005. 158 pages. (Sports Fiction)

The story takes place in New York City. The main characters are Hank, Papa Pete, Frankie, Ashley, and Sam Chin. The problem that Hank faces in the story is that he can not find a sport that he good at. One day after school Papa Pete takes Hank to a ping-pong emporium to let him see all of his ping-pong buddies that he plays with almost everyday. Hank soon loves this sport and practices as much as he can in his spare time. After going to the emporium for a week or so, he started almost beating the pros that were giving him pointers to improve his skill. Soon he is better at ping-pong than all of his friends. I selected this book because the cover and the title looked very interesting. I also selected this book because it was a part of a series I was reading.
