The Confession

Lewis, Beverly. The Confession. Minneapolis, Minnesota: Bethany House, 1997. 286 pages. (Historical Fiction)

The main characters in this story are Mrs. Bennett, Mr. Bennett, Katharine Mayfield (Katie Lapp), and Lydia, her cousin. This story takes place in Lancaster, Pennsylvania other words known as the “Amish state.”

The problem is that Katharine has to find her mother (Mrs. Bennett) before she dies. Katharine was adopted by an Amish family after the lady who adopted her (Mrs. Rebecca Lapp) had a still born. By the time she finds her mother some other “Katie Lapp” has already been found.
So Katharine becomes a maid for her mother. She solves the problem at the end by telling her mother who she really is. I would like to read more books by this author because the detail that she put in the story was incredible.
