Down a Dark Hall

Duncan, Lois. Down a Dark Hall. New York: Random House, 1990. 181 (Mystery)

All Kit’s problem is that she keeps seeing things in her head or so she thought. She has to stay at Blackwood Private School until her mom and soon to be dad is to marry. But she knows something evil is at Blackwood, and she isn’t giving up until she finds it. But too many people think she is lying or just plain psycho. Well, that is the teachers anyway. The only people who attended Blackwood are four girls: Kit, Sandy, Ruth, and Lynda. What do these girls have in common? Well I’ll tell you. All of them have ESP. But why has the keeper of Blackwood School For Girls only want a school full of girls who have ESP? Maybe because this Blackwood school has a mystery of its own.

I loved this book because it keeps you guessing until the near end of the book. Kit is a very nice girl who will be away from her parents for their honeymoon. Kit discovers a dark past of Blackwood that can only be explained by the book. By the help of her friends Sandy, Ruth, and Lynda, she will try to discover the past. But what she doesn’t know will kill her. But why did all for girls out of thousands make it? They all have one thing in common, ESP, and Kit realizes her hallucinations are in her dreams. I would love someone else to read this book and other Lois Duncan books he wrote. This book will be cherished, and we’ll miss the author when he is gone. In one word, this book will be “magic” because when you read this book it seems there is magic in this book.
