In the Forest of the Night

Atwater-Rhodes, Amelia. In the Forest of the Night. NY: Dell Laurel Leaf, 1999. 176 pages. (Fantasy Series / Vampires)

The main characters are Rachel whose name changed to Risika when she was turned into a vampire. Alexander is Rachel’s twin brother who has “powers.” Ather is a witch-vampire, and Aubrey is her assistant vampire. The story takes place three hundred years in the past in 1702, and in present day New York City. The problem Rachel faces is trying to figure out what she must do with her life and to find out who she is. Rachel goes about solving the problem by confronting Aubrey and Ather. Other interesting events that happen in the novel are when Rachel gets turned into a Vampire, and how every in chapter it goes back and forth from present time to 1702. I selected this book because my sister, Chelsea, said I would like Amelia Atwater-Rhodes’ books. She usually writes books about vampires, witches, and shape-shifters. I like these types of books because they have a lot of action in them.
