The Journal of Patrick Seamus Flaherty

Flaherty, Patrick. The Journal of Patrick Seamus Flaherty. NY: Scholastic. 187 pages. (Historical Fiction)

The main characters in this book are Patrick, Bebop, and the professor. The story takes place in Khe Sanh, Vietnam, during the Vietnam War in 1968. The problem that Patrick faces is that France asked the U.S. to keep the Communist North Vietnam from taking over the Democratic South Vietnam. The U.S. sent troops over to advise South Vietnam and from there we were in a war. The war never ended, we just took our troops out.

The character I liked the most was Bebop because when he got hurt or shot he didn’t want to go to the hospital. He just kept going and going until a doctor forced him to get into a helicopter to go the hospital. I also like Bebop because he plays the saxophone, and I like to listening to the saxophone.
