Dragon's Bait

Vande Velde, Vivian. Dragon's Bait: A story about a girl, a dragon, and angry towns people. NY: Harcourt, Inc., 1992. 196 pages. (Fantasy)

This book is about a girl named Alys who is being accused of witchcraft. The townspeople of Saint Toby’s sentence her to be slain by the dragon. The two main characters in this book are Alys and the dragon named Slendrile. The main problem Alys is facing is when the dragon does not slay her and she tells him she wants revenge on the townspeople. The problem is that Slendrile ends up killing a man because of what Alys said. Alys was mad that he did that, but she decided to at least give him a proper burial and they formed a pyramid of rocks on top of him. I would definitely recommend this book because it was a great book and it pulls you deeper and deeper in the book.
