The Giggler Treatment

Doyle, Roddy. The Giggler Treatment. N.Y: Scholastic, 2000. 112 pages. (Humor/Fantasy)

Follow along with us as we go through a difficult time in a small town in Ireland with the Gigglers, Mr. Mack and his family.

The Giggler Treatment is about the Gigglers and what they do to adults. They give adults the Giggler Treatment by putting dog droppings in the path of an adult who has mistreated a child or has sent them to bed early or has not dinner. That very thing happened to Mr. Mack; is a biscuit taste tester (in Ireland a biscuit is a cookie). The night before he sent his two boys Robbie and Jimmy up to their room because they broke the window that Mr. Mack had just fixed! So the Gigglers almost gave Mr. Mack the “Giggler Treatment” but when his foot is about one inch from the poo his pet dog Rover and his baby girl Kayla who can’t talk yet, saved the day! Now, the Gigglers know that they should get the full story before they go and drop some more poo on the ground for someone to step in.

I liked the book because it was funny and sometimes my parents send me to bed early or let me go to bed without dinner. I wish that sometimes the Gigglers were real, and that I could save the day. Sadly we all know that super heroes aren’t real, or are they? So, catch up with Mr. Mack Kayla, Rover, and the rest of the gang when you read the book The Giggler Treatment.
