Cujo

King, Stephen. Cujo. NY: Penguin, 1981. 303 pages. (Horror)

Cujo is the story of two families ravaged by a demon dog with rabies. Castle Rock, Maine, is the setting of this invigorating novel by Stephen King. Vic and Donna Trenton are a young couple raising their adolescent boy, Tad. Donna’s car has been having troubles lately, so she decides to bring it down to Joe Camber’s house. Joe’s dog, Cujo, was hunting a rabbit on his land. When the rabbit falls into an underground cave and woke up rabid bats. The bats came screeching in a blind rage and bit Cujo. He then killed Joe and lumbered back to the house. Donna and Tad were driving to the Cambers’ and didn’t expect anything out of the ordinary. She pulled in the driveway to find Cujo there lying down and nothing goes well from there for Donna and Tad.

If you are a person who enjoys long walks on the beach and looking at nature, I don’t recommend this book to you. But, if you like action, suspense, and horror, you are a perfect candidate for reading Cujo. I enjoyed it, and you will too. Now go to the store or library, get a copy, kick back, listen to this persuasive review, and read it.
