Diary of a Wimpy Kid

Kinney, Jeff. Diary of a Wimpy Kid. NY: Amulet Books, 2007. 217 pages. (Graphic Novel / Humor)

Greg and his friend Rowley are going through middle school. Greg is short for his age, so there are some difficulties along the way. Rowley is not very popular, but he is honest. It takes place in the town they live in. There are many problems Greg faces: not letting anybody know about his diary or the nickname Bubby, his little brother Manny give him. In Greg’s house, Manny is the perfect little angel while his brother Rodrick is in high school and has a heavy metal band. Greg faces many more problems along his journey though middle school. Read the book to find out how he survives his problems.

I would recommend this book because all of the events could happen to a student in middle school, like having a little brother that can get away with just about anything or having the perfect Halloween rout ruined by your mom and little brother. The whole novel is told in cartoons, so it is fun to read. Also, it is interesting to see what Greg is in trouble for and how his mom punishes him.
