This book Stormbreaker is about a fourteen year old boy named Alex Rider who is living with his uncle Ian Rider, a banker, and their housekeeper. One day when Alex was going to bed, he heard his doorbell ring and the housekeeper answered the door. Two police men were at the door, and they wanted to talk to the housekeeper. After the police men left, Alex was shocked to find out that his uncle had been in a terrible car crash and he wasn’t wearing his seatbelt. Then it came to him, Ian always wore his seatbelt, so he wanted clues. At the funeral for Ian, a Rolls Royce pulled up and two men got out, and they were dressed up in grey uniforms. Alex got another clue when he saw that the men in uniforms had a gun. Later that week, Alex went to the junkyard where his uncle’s car was, and when he first saw it, it looked perfectly fine until he got up close and it was covered with bullet holes.
That night Alex got a phone call and the bank where his uncle worked wanted to speak with him, so the next day he went to the bank. While he was there Alex was shot with a sleeping dart. When Alex woke up, he had no clue where he was and later on he was brought out to breakfast with a man and they spoke for a while. Alex came to find out that his uncle worked as a MI6 agent, which is the British version of the CIA, and they wanted Alex to finish the mission his uncle was on when he died. It was called the Stormbreaker which involved a man who invented a genius computer and gave them away to schools and practically everyone for free. MI6 thought there was something weird about it. After Alex got to the computer plant he finally found out that they were putting toxic gasses in the computers and when they got activated, the gases would be released into the atmosphere and kill lots and lots of people. When it finally came to the day when they were having the big meeting to activate all the computers, Alex came crashing down through the roof of the building to stop the activation of the computers. Does Alex stop the activation of the computers or not??? You will have to read the book and find out.
