Sort of Forever

The main characters are seventh graders Nana and Cady. The story takes place in Los Angeles. The problem that Cady and Nana face is that Nana is feisty with Cancer!! As Cady watches her friend change, she’s not sure she knows this new Nana. L Nana is changing because of all the medicine that she is taking. Nana is never in school because she is always tired and too weak, so she doesn’t know what it going on in school with Cady. Until she realizes that it is Nana who needs to be rescued. The girls learned that life is not only a piece of heaven- it is also piece of dirt. The girls had a lot of fights and a lot of great moments. Cady and Nana go through a lot of hard and painful moments but they come to a solution. But is it too late.

So you are wondering is Nana going to die!!!!

I recommend that girls who are having a hard time with their friendship to read this great book. Because it teaches girls lessons about friendship and you should treasure your life and your friends. (Well I guess guys can read this book too.) To be honesty I cried at the end of the book because it’s the end of the book but not only that, something terrible happens. So if you want to know what happened at the end, I guess you should read the book.

Twilight

Life looked blue , or rather overcast and foggy, when Bella Swan moved from sunny Phoenix , Arizona to the rainiest place in the country: Forks, Washington. But, that was before she met Edward. Edward and his mysterious family are and intriguing, mysterious, and strikingly beautiful. Bella soon finds herself spending more time with the strange, beautiful boy, and they soon become inseparable. Bella and Edward were a perfect match, that is before she found out that he was a vampire. Although dangerous, Bella and Edward are fighting fate to be together. Then a ravenous, sadistic vampire threatens not only their chance to be together, but also Bella’s life.

I would recommend this book to anyone that asked because it is a good blend of romance, action, and science fiction. I really like how Stephenie Meyer writes. Stephenie’s style of writing weaves Bella’s thoughts and feelings with plenty of descriptions and personality. Despite the hefty 500 pages, this triller is one you just can’t seem to put down.

Angels in Pink

McDaniel, Lurlene. Angels in Pink. NY: Laurel Leaf Books, 2005. 227 pages. (Fiction Series / Romance)

The book Angels in Pink is about three girls named Riana, Holly, and Kathleen who signed up for a program at the hospital over the summer. The program was for volunteers to help out in the different parts of the hospital. The volunteers were called Pink Angles. Riana and Holly were very excited, but Kathleen was not so happy because she wasn’t very fond about the idea of blood and sick people. Kathleen’s mother was in a wheelchair, so Kathleen was always taking care of her mother, and she thought working at the hospital would be just like taking care of her mother. When they started the program they got pink t-shirts that said “Pink Angels” on them. After the first day they were assigned to different parts of the hospital, and they were given jobs in the fileing department and the children’s wing and even in the cancer wing.
I selected this book by just picking up books I thought looked interesting. I read the back and decided to read it.

The Stranger Next Door

Kehret, Peg. The Stranger Next Door. New York City: Penguin Group, 2003. 163 pages. (Mystery)

The book that I choose for my book review this month is The Stranger Next Door. The main characters are Pete a cat, Alex, Rocky, Mr. and Mrs. Kendrill, Benjie, and Mr. Woolsey. In almost each chapter in the book it mentions all of this names. The story takes place in Valley View Estates a development that was just built. The problem in this story is that Rocky has to move away from all of his friends and change his name. Rocky moves to a place called Valley View Estates. He has to change his name because a drug dealer is going to kill him and his family. He is going to kill him and his family because drug dealing is illegal and Rocky’s mom is going to court about it. Rocky solves this problem by going to court against the drug dealer but he finds out that the drug dealer is his dad. Another interesting event in this novel is that Rocky’s house catches on fire during the night and Pete the cat wakes up Alex so Alex can wake up his family to call the fire department to come and put out the fire. The character that I despised was Mr. Woolsey because he is the guy that set Rocky’s house on fire. I also didn’t like him because he was always grumpy

Holes

Sachar, Louis. Holes. New York: Scholastic Inc, 1989. 233 pages. (Fiction / Humor)

In the book Holes there is a boy named Stanly Yelnats who was sent to Camp Green Lake, which used to be the largest lake in Texas and now is just a dry flat waste land. There used to be a town there also, and that shriveled up too. Stanley and his family thought they were cursed because of their no good dirty rotten great grandfather. That’s why they thought he was sent to Camp Green Lake and had to dig holes to try and find interesting things. Stanley was sent to Camp Green Lake because he was accused of stealing a pair of shoes from the homeless shelter. At camp Stanley helped his friend Zero learns how to read and write because he didn’t know how to do these things yet. So Zero helped Stanley dig his holes, to pay him back for teaching him how to read and write.

I would recommend the book Holes to a friend because it was a fabulous book. I thought it was so good because it related to something that happened to me. The thing that happened to me was I did a favor for a friend, such as giving him a pencil, and he let me use his text book to do my homework.
